Happy 2024! I’m not quite sure how we’re already here, then again it feels like we’ve experienced almost every season since the year started. I’m still waiting for snow though. I’m one of the very few people who LOVE it and I’m always disappointed when I hear it’s coming and it doesn’t arrive.
I’ve had a great year so far though. A big birthday celebration with my family kicked off January (it wasn’t my birthday). We went away, walked, ate and had a murder mystery meal. I lucked out and was the murderer which meant I could lie a lot with impunity (which I feel as an author I’m particularly good at because I’m always making things up). I had a lot of fun, although everyone was half asleep by the time I admitted it was me!
Last weekend I was in Prague – a first for me, but the city has been on my bucket list for a long time. It’s so pretty and I’d love to set a story there one day. Christmas in the Scottish Highlands was published by Grada in the Czech Republic in October 2023 which accelerated my visit. It was absolutely stunning and the food and beer were truly fabulous!
In between these lovely trips I’ve been writing my next Christmas book. I can’t share much but I will say it’s set in the Scottish Highlands again (which means plenty of opportunities to talk about snowstorms). There are some hilarious animals and a very christmassy plot. I’m actually already excited about sharing it. As soon as I have a cover and title (although I’ll probably need to finish writing it before I get those!) I’ll let you know.
That’s it from me for now. I’ve got until the end of March to finish the first draft and then I’m hoping to visit my editor in London in April. More on that when I go!
Have a wonderful month and I’ll be back soon
Love
